In recent entertainment news, actress Anna Faris has dispelled circulating rumors about her potential participation in Disney Pixar's highly anticipated animated feature, Toy Story 5. Despite her enthusiasm for voice acting, she confirmed that these reports were unfounded internet speculation. Faris also shared insights into the creative process behind her latest live-action project, Scary Movie 6, where she returns to her iconic role as Cindy Campbell.

Anna Faris Clarifies 'Toy Story 5' Speculation and Discusses 'Scary Movie 6'

On April 1, actress Anna Faris addressed widespread reports suggesting her involvement in the upcoming animated film Toy Story 5 during an interview with Variety. Although Deadline had previously announced her casting in an undisclosed role in May 2025, Faris regretfully confirmed that these were merely internet rumors. "No, that's just a rumor. I'm not in it. I wish I was. I love doing voice work, but no, that was an internet rumor," she stated, adding that even her parents had inquired about her alleged role.

Faris boasts an impressive portfolio of voice acting credits, including a 2025 episode of Phineas & Ferb, The Emoji Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Shifting focus to her live-action work, Faris will reprise her role as Cindy Campbell in the forthcoming film Scary Movie 6. She offered a glimpse into the screenwriting process for the comedy franchise, noting its collaborative nature. "You do get sent a script, but you know that things are going to change. It's always been a collaborative team spirit," she explained. Faris commended the initial script for Scary Movie 6, acknowledging that modifications and additions are part of the creative journey.

Regarding her 13-year-old son, Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt, Faris indicated that she would permit him to watch the new installment. "Yeah. Is that awful? I just feel like it's such a part of it. He was on set. I don't know if I would tell every parent they should let their 13-year-old see it, but I do feel like his situation is a little different."

According to the official synopsis for Scary Movie 6, the film sees "The Core Four are back in the killer's crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe." It promises a humorous take on various horror subgenres, including "reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every 'final chapter' that absolutely isn't final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed."

Screenwriter and star Marlon Wayans described the movie to Entertainment Weekly in March as a "rebooquel," emphasizing its multi-generational appeal and inclusive comedic approach. Scary Movie 6 is set to premiere in theaters on June 5.

This news offers a clear perspective on Anna Faris's current projects. While fans might be disappointed about her absence from Toy Story 5, her continued dedication to both voice work and live-action comedies, particularly the Scary Movie franchise, remains evident. Her insights into the collaborative screenwriting process highlight the dynamic and evolving nature of film production, especially in comedic genres where improvisation and adaptation are key. Furthermore, her candid comments about her son viewing her work reflect a personal connection to her roles and an understanding of the unique circumstances surrounding a child growing up in the entertainment industry.
