The Hollywood Bowl has officially rolled out its exciting roster for the 2026 summer concert series. This season is particularly significant as it marks Gustavo Dudamel's farewell as the LA Phil's music and artistic director, culminating in a series of collaborative performances, notably a crossover event with the rock band Foo Fighters. The diverse program promises a vibrant mix of genres and experiences for all attendees, showcasing both classical and contemporary artists alongside cinematic tributes under the Californian stars.
Hollywood Bowl's Star-Studded Summer: A Fusion of Genres and Celebratory Farewell
The venerable Hollywood Bowl is set to host an eclectic and captivating summer season in 2026, offering a rich tapestry of musical experiences from June through September. A central highlight of the season is the celebration of Gustavo Dudamel’s seventeenth and concluding year as the music and artistic director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This momentous occasion will be marked by an unprecedented collaboration on August 22, when Dudamel conducts the LA Phil alongside the iconic rock band Foo Fighters, demonstrating a unique fusion of classical grandeur and rock energy.
Beyond this high-profile event, the season is brimming with diverse acts. St. Vincent is scheduled to deliver a symphonic performance with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, while the beloved Beach Boys will join the orchestra for the traditional Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, a three-night extravaganza. The September Fireworks finale will feature OneRepublic, although the season's final note will be struck by Jon Batiste on September 27.
Legendary performers are also gracing the stage, including the ever-youthful Herb Alpert with his Tijuana Brass, and blues titan Buddy Guy, both continuing to captivate audiences. Juneteenth celebrations will be headlined by Chance the Rapper, and The Roots will bring their popular Roots Picnic event to the West Coast for its third consecutive year.
The lineup spans genres, with rock giants ZZ Top and Cheap Trick, R&B legends Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight, reggae icons Ziggy Marley and Burning Spear, and beloved acts like Al Green, Squeeze, and the Gin Blossoms. Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to the Blue Note Jazz Festival in mid-June, hosted by Arsenio Hall and featuring Patti LaBelle, Wyclef Jean, Robert Glasper, and Samara Joy. Wynton Marsalis will lead a Jazz at Lincoln Center program, and Herbie Hancock will honor Miles Davis's centennial.
Movie nights remain a cherished tradition, with the Bowl presenting "Music from the Films of Wes Anderson" and a three-night homage to Studio Ghibli's Joe Hisaishi. John Williams will, as customary, receive a three-night salute in September. Full film screenings with live orchestral accompaniment include classics like “Amadeus,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” alongside the annual “Sound of Music” sing-along.
Tickets for this extraordinary summer season became available starting February 18, 2026, with various packages and single-show tickets released in phases throughout March and May, inviting audiences to secure their spots for these unforgettable musical gatherings. Additional performances not produced by the LA Phil, such as those by Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, and My Chemical Romance, have also been announced, further enriching the summer's offerings.
The upcoming Hollywood Bowl season exemplifies the venue's commitment to artistic diversity and community engagement. By blending classical, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, the Bowl continues to be a vibrant cultural hub, fostering an environment where different musical worlds can converge and create truly memorable experiences. The farewell celebration for Gustavo Dudamel, in particular, highlights the profound impact an artistic director can have, leaving a legacy that transcends traditional genre boundaries and embraces innovative collaborations. This season serves as a powerful reminder of music's ability to unite and inspire, drawing audiences into a shared celebration of artistry and cultural heritage.
