Rajamouli, known for blockbusters like "RRR," spearheaded the unveiling of this state-of-the-art motion capture studio, which is poised to become India's leading facility of its kind. This pioneering initiative is a joint effort between Akkineni Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios and Shobu Yarlagadda's Mihira Visual Labs, with Hollywood's Animatrik Film Design, a company recognized for its contributions to major international productions such as "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home," providing the technological expertise.

The A&M MoCap Lab has already demonstrated its capabilities by capturing pivotal scenes for the highly anticipated film "Varanasi," starring a prominent ensemble including Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Rajamouli expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting how such advanced technology would have enhanced his earlier works, stating that the facility bridges a long-standing technological gap in Indian cinema. This innovative facility boasts impressive technical specifications, including a 60-by-40-by-30-foot capture volume equipped with Vicon Valkyrie VK26 cameras, ensuring exceptional optical tracking precision and real-time data streaming. Its integration with Unreal Engine for live virtual production previsualization and Stereo Head-Mounted Camera units for high-resolution facial performance capture makes it a versatile tool. C.V. Rao, CTO of Annapurna Studios, underscored the lab's value as a pre-production asset, enabling directors and cinematographers to refine creative decisions in a virtual environment, thereby minimizing costly on-set adjustments. As Annapurna Studios celebrates its 50th anniversary, the lab is set to open its doors to filmmakers, game developers, and animation studios globally, building on a history of technological milestones, including India's first Dolby cinema processing facility, also launched by Rajamouli at Annapurna.
