Blue Fox Entertainment Takes Over iPic Theaters in Westwood and New York, Rebrands as 'The Cinemas'

In a significant strategic maneuver within the entertainment landscape, Blue Fox Entertainment has successfully acquired two prominent iPic luxury theater locations. This acquisition, following iPic Theaters' recent bankruptcy filing, marks a pivotal moment for both entities. The newly obtained venues, situated in Los Angeles' Westwood Village and New York City, are set to undergo a comprehensive rebranding, emerging as 'The Cinemas'. This move not only breathes new life into these cinematic establishments but also signifies Blue Fox Entertainment's assertive expansion into the theatrical exhibition sector, further solidifying its presence as an integrated entertainment provider.

The transition under Blue Fox Entertainment's ownership will usher in a notable shift in the operational model of these former iPic theaters. A key change involves discontinuing the in-theater dining service that was a hallmark of the iPic experience. Instead, 'The Cinemas' will pivot towards offering premium concessions, focusing on an elevated selection of food and beverages. This strategic decision is driven by the aim to refine the cinematic journey, specifically by mitigating service-related disturbances such as noise and light, thereby ensuring a more immersive and focused viewing environment for patrons.

Blue Fox Entertainment has assured the public that both theater locations, along with their associated Tuck Room restaurant and cocktail lounges, will maintain continuous operation throughout the rebranding initiative. James Huntsman, the founder of Blue Fox Entertainment Group, articulated the significance of this expansion, stating that venturing into theatrical exhibition represents a substantial progression for the company. He emphasized that this move not only strengthens their standing as an all-encompassing entertainment group but also leverages the established reputation of these premium cinema destinations. The vision is to build upon this foundation, curating enhanced moviegoing experiences for audiences.

It's important to note that Blue Fox Entertainment's acquisition specifically targeted the Westwood Village and New York City iPic locations, while other iPic theaters, including the one in Pasadena, were not part of this transaction. The Westwood Village site, historically known as the Avco Center Cinemas, boasts six screens, while the iPic Fulton Market in New York's Seaport District features eight screens. Beyond showcasing major studio releases, independent films, and classic movie nights, 'The Cinemas' plans to introduce diverse event-focused programming. This will include early screenings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, repertory titles, special engagements, and various community-centric events, aiming to foster a vibrant and engaging cinematic culture.

Founded in 2015, Blue Fox Entertainment has established itself as an independent film distributor, financier, and sales company, with a portfolio that includes films such as 'Lost on a Mountain in Maine' and 'The Wolf and the Lion.' The company views this expansion into theatrical exhibition as a crucial step towards creating a vertically integrated platform. This platform is designed to support filmmakers comprehensively, from the initial stages of development and production through worldwide distribution and, ultimately, theatrical showcasing, underscoring Blue Fox Entertainment's commitment to a holistic approach in the entertainment industry.

Blue Fox Entertainment's recent acquisition of former iPic Theater venues in Westwood and New York, now rebranded as 'The Cinemas,' signifies a strategic pivot for the company into theatrical exhibition. By shifting from in-seat dining to an enhanced concession model, the goal is to improve the moviegoing experience by reducing distractions. This move aims to build upon the locations' existing prestige, offering a diversified program of films and special events, and solidifying Blue Fox's integrated role in film distribution and exhibition.
