CNN has recently announced a significant enhancement to its European news coverage with the appointment of the distinguished Italian journalist, Stefano Pozzebon, to the role of international correspondent in its Rome bureau. This strategic move underscores CNN's commitment to delivering comprehensive and authoritative reporting from across Italy and the broader European continent. Pozzebon, known for his multilingual abilities and extensive reporting experience, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping CNN's narrative on major political, social, and cultural developments in the region.

CNN Fortifies European Reporting with Stefano Pozzebon in Rome

On August 3, 2026, CNN officially announced the appointment of Stefano Pozzebon as their new international correspondent. Based in the historic city of Rome, Italy, Pozzebon's primary responsibilities will encompass reporting on pivotal news events throughout Italy and extending across the European landscape. His contributions will be featured across CNN's diverse platforms, including both linear broadcasts and digital content. He will collaborate closely with Christopher Lamb, CNN's esteemed Vatican Correspondent, who spearheads the network's reporting on the Vatican and the papacy of Pope Leo.

Pozzebon brings a wealth of experience to this new position. A graduate of City University, London, where he focused on International Journalism, he possesses fluency in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and his native Italian. Prior to this role, Pozzebon served as a vital contributor for CNN in Bogota, Colombia, and before that, in Caracas, Venezuela. In these capacities, he was instrumental in CNN's Latin American coverage, delivering news in both English and Spanish to a broad audience.

His recent journalistic endeavors include poignant reports from Venezuela following a devastating series of twin earthquakes, which caused widespread destruction and tragic loss of life. He also provided in-depth coverage of Colombia's recent presidential election and documented the evolving political landscape within Venezuela, particularly after the reported apprehension of Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro earlier in the year. In recognition of his significant contributions to journalism, Pozzebon, now 35, was honored in 2017 on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Italy list and received a nomination for a 2016 Livingston Award for his compelling documentary investigating the illicit trade of pharmaceutical products in Western Africa.

Andrew Roy, CNN London Bureau Chief and EMEA General Manager, emphasized the network's unwavering dedication to on-the-ground reporting in Europe. He highlighted Europe's critical role in influencing global affairs, ranging from political developments and environmental concerns to sports and cultural phenomena. Roy lauded Pozzebon as an exceptionally experienced and multilingual journalist, whose profound connections to the region position him uniquely to deliver insightful and original reporting. This, Roy stated, will empower audiences worldwide to grasp the significance of events unfolding across Europe and the Mediterranean.

The appointment of Stefano Pozzebon to CNN's Rome bureau signifies a proactive step by the network to deepen its international reporting capabilities. His extensive experience in diverse geopolitical landscapes, coupled with his linguistic proficiency, will undoubtedly enrich CNN's ability to provide nuanced and impactful coverage of European affairs. This move not only reinforces CNN's commitment to global journalism but also underscores the enduring importance of European narratives on the world stage.
