As reported by Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber in 2024, approximately 13 million out of 16 million votes in the presidential election were cast by mail. Christian Grose, director of USC’s Schwarzenegger Institute, explained that many voters, particularly those with numerous choices on their ballots, often wait until the final days to submit their mail-in votes, which are counted as long as they are postmarked by Election Day.
