A Glimpse into the Concluding Installment: Unveiling Director's Vision

While specifics about the third and final installment of Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 remake series remain largely under wraps, director Naoki Hamaguchi recently offered some tantalizing details. In a conversation with Polygon, Hamaguchi confirmed that the forthcoming role-playing game will continue its strong emphasis on engaging mini-games. He specifically reassured fans that Queen's Blood, a fan-favorite from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, will make its triumphant return, hinting at exciting new developments. Furthermore, he alluded to the team's creative approach to reimagining the original Final Fantasy 7's iconic snowboarding challenge.

The Enduring Appeal of Queen's Blood: Enhanced for the Final Chapter

During an interview at Nintendo's New York City store, discussing the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X, Hamaguchi elaborated on the progression of the trilogy's yet-to-be-named conclusion. Building upon previous confirmations, he reiterated that Queen's Blood, a beloved card-collecting and tactical battle mini-game, is set to reappear in the third part. Hamaguchi acknowledged the widespread popularity of Queen's Blood, noting the fervent desire among players for its continuation. He expressed the team's ambition to significantly enhance and power up Queen's Blood for its appearance in the final installment, promising an evolved experience.

Beyond Queen's Blood: Redefining Mini-Game Integration

Beyond the confirmed return of Queen's Blood, Hamaguchi emphasized that mini-games will maintain a central role in the third installment. This includes a commitment to faithfully recreate and elevate the original Final Fantasy 7's snowboarding sequence, which occurs after the narrative events covered in Rebirth. In the classic version, players guided Cloud through a downhill snowboarding escapade on the Great Glacier, skillfully avoiding obstacles like snowmen and trees. Hamaguchi recognized the deep nostalgic connection players have with this particular mini-game. While he remained tight-lipped about specifics, he assured that it would transcend a simple snowboarding experience, becoming intricately woven into the overarching narrative and thematic elements of the game.

Development Update: A Smoother Journey Than Anticipated

Although Hamaguchi refrained from divulging further plot details, he did provide Polygon with an encouraging update on the project's development timeline. The game appears to be progressing more rapidly than many fans might have expected, especially considering that Rebirth was released on PlayStation 5 just two years prior. Hamaguchi confidently stated that the development of the third installment is proceeding very smoothly. He highlighted that the team is meticulously adhering to their established schedule and meeting all set milestones. Expressing profound gratitude and respect for the development team's dedication, he revealed that the game is technically playable at this stage, with the current focus on refinement to ensure the highest quality before its release to player
